Scottish Rite Day - Nov. 14, 2009

Our Sovereign Grand Commander has identified November 14, 2009 as a day of celebration for the Scottish Rite Northern Masonic Jurisdiction. On that day, each Consistory will be expected to open at 10:00 a.m., present the 31st and 32nd degrees only and then enjoy a period of fellowship and lunch.

All Valleys are encouraged to schedule their non-Consistorial degree work appropriately in support of the November 14, 2009 celebration. Degree work communicated at supporting meetings will be at the discretion of your Deputy. Every Valley is encouraged to make an extra effort to present a program that is convenient, inspirational, and most of all enjoyable.

There are several key factors that can help your Valley create an enjoyable period of fellowship with your Brethren.

First is convenience: plan your day in a manner convenient to as many Brethren as possible. Invite them to join in this special day of celebration and, if necessary, rent a bus to assist in transportation needs, or pay for parking.

Second is quality work: proper planning and execution will be seen in the quality of the effort presented by your Valley.

Third is making the day inspirational so as to inspire your members to want to return. Consider making a special invitation to all members who are veterans of the several branches of our military. Go one step further and provide a special rate for those members or veterans of the military who may wish to join Scottish Rite. Make them all feel very special at your luncheon and thank them for their service to our country.

As you are aware, this year, you will start to see the official wording on dues bills indicating that “In accordance with Article 702 of the Grand Constitutions, a portion of your dues is allocated to the support of Supreme Council programs.” This is one of those programs. To assist in helping the Valleys plan and execute this special day, your Supreme Council will provide a grant of $500 per Valley for transportation or meal costs associated with the November 14, 2009 class. Each Valley will be asked to complete an expense form and provide copies of associated invoices and submit that form to this office for reimbursement.

It is the sincere desire of the Commander and your Supreme Council that this very special day will be something we can all be proud of and proper planning on the part of your Valley can help to ensure that happening. Additional information will be forthcoming as it becomes available.
